How to Live
a Healthy Lifestyle

With obesity rates rising, people are starting to become more aware of what they eat and what they do with their bodies.

Yet despite fad diets becoming an even bigger craze, as well as various workouts constantly being touted as “the best” or “revolutionary”, many people still struggle to settle into a life of health and fitness.

Blame it on information overload, or just unwillingness to change, but either way, it's apparent that the road of health and fitness is the road less travelled on. However, it doesn't have to be that way at all.

You can learn simply how to live a healthy lifestyle with the help of the following 4 tips.

1. Avoid Tobacco

Congratulations if you do not smoke, or if you have given up the habit - it’s the best thing to do for your health. If you are a smoker, it’s never too late to quit.

Start by making a commitment to quitting. By doing this, you are already halfway there. Make sure you are serious with your plans, and that you are the reason you are quitting.

Bonus tip: Make a game out of it: keep challenging yourself and reward yourself for every week that goes by that you don’t smoke a cigarette. After all, giving up an unhealthy habit is always worth celebrating.

2. Eat More, Not Less

Eat more whole foods, and less processed foods. This is one of the best ways you can keep your body healthy. Eat foods that contain ingredients you can readily recognize, instead of foods that contain lots of chemicals.

Make it a point to lessen your intake of meats, and instead consume more vegetables, fruits and even seafood.

You don’t have to forgo meat entirely: meat has lots of protein that is essential to power the basic processes of the human body, but vegetables are equally important, and tasty too - with many different varieties, it’s easy to find some you enjoy.

3. Skip the Soda and Sugary Drinks

To be healthy, forgo drinks with added sugars. Large amounts of sugary drinks lead to unnecessary fat, and diet soda has been shown to increase appetite.

Water is the healthiest drink for your body, and is essential for every cell, tissue and organ in your body.

In fact, 60 - 70% of your body is made up of water. You can also try drinking green tea, which has plenty of antioxidants, can help the digestive system, and also increase your metabolism.

4. Stay Active

How to live a healthy lifestyle without having to spend a lot of money on a gym membership is simply to stay active on a daily basis. Schedule an exercise routine every day, either in the morning when you wake up or at night after work.

Whenever you schedule it, make sure it’s at least 30 minutes to an hour long to get the most out of it. Regular exercise can help strengthen your bones and your muscles, promote better breathing and cellular activity, clear the brain, help you sleep, and of course help keep those extra pounds off.

Therefore, even if you eat a lot, you are not storing as much fat, instead you will expend fat during your workout routine.
